And you’re not making your own fun either, Assetto Corsa offers up a variety of game modes that include free practice, time trials, drifting, and even full race weekends with multiple sessions.īut it’s not just the game’s official content that has kept people playing for years after its release, Assetto Corsa has an active modding community that still provides players with fresh content regularly. The challenge that comes with learning each of these tracks and their varying layouts in even just one of the available cars in the game offers up the potential for hours of game time.
Speaking of the track, the Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition offers 19 tracks with a total of 40 different configurations, all of which have been reproduced using laser-scanning to ensure they are accurate to their real-life counterparts. If you buy the ultimate edition that includes all of the DLC, you’ll find yourself sitting pretty with over 170 cars to choose from any time you want to hit the track. Assetto Corsa offers over 100 cars in the base game, all recreated to a staggering level of detail, particular in regards to their handling and performance on track. So with those key points nailed down, let’s talk about the game itself. But I would still recommend a wheel and pedals setup if you want to get the most out of the game.
Nothing fancy, but when I tried the game using a gamepad I found I couldn’t quite get the accuracy you need on the inputs with a gamepad’s more limited controls.No the community around Assetto Corsa have done much to improve this by fine-tuning settings for controller usage and sharing them online. And as with most racing sims, you’ll probably need a wheel and pedals to enjoy it properly.
